How We Work

 

Our handpicked, highly skilled, and certified professionals do business with you in a different – more collaborative and generative way. We enjoy functioning as thought and action partners. Our goal is to help you “move the needle” towards sustainable results.  Whatever the path that must be taken to ensure that success with clients, we are prepared and equipped to do.

Whether we are engaged as coaches, trainers, organizational consultants, or transition experts, we define success as the capability of leaders and their organizations to make a real difference.

We know that a successful engagement requires three things. First, how well do leaders understand themselves, their personal and organizational challenges, and the skills they believe they currently possess to successfully address them?  Often at the onset, we must help people look within themselves – think differently - in order to more accurately assess their capabilities to tackle these “outside” challenges.  This is where we like to begin, which is why we often seek to use appropriate and valid assessments to gain that level of clarity - and why we put ourselves in that space  between leadership capabilities and organizational success in order to help our clients close gaps that sabotage or dilute the results they desire. We owe you that “mirror” of reality because we want you to succeed.

Second, a successful engagement requires the leaders with whom we work to commit to needed changes, as painful as that process may be for a short time.  All of our approaches – coaching, training, facilitation – are based on the needed changes we agree must be made and all participants agreeing to do the work necessary to bring about these changes.  Together, we decide on what needs to change and how we are going to measure its success.

We are, at the core, oriented to BEHAVIOR as the key lever to change.  We believe that what people DO over time will shape the way they think and feel - that assumptions and perceptions that color reality and control people’s actions can be clarified, and a decision made, to practice new behaviors and thoughts. We believe that organizations operate in the same fashion, and left unattended, can get into non-productive habitual patterns of doing things out of alignment with the overall vision.  We believe than when leaders change some of their ways, see their value, and develop and practice new behaviors, the rest of the puzzle will begin to fall into place.  Retention increases, motivation quickens, new patterns of communication lead to alignment and productivity, and leaders become more respected and followed.

Third, we help people through that change process, keeping their attention focused on the “ball” of what really matters.  What may make us different here is the “human face” we apply to this work. Any type of development or change is by nature stressful. We know this, and we come into our client engagements seeking to partner in an emotionally intelligent manner. Much of the reason our firm has been in business for eighteen years lies in our ability to inspire trust, facilitate clarity in thinking, and generate hope and confidence that problems are simply challenges waiting for the right action.
